1974, First Edition. [Not published]. Very good unpublished comb-bound typescript in transparent plastic covers, with a letter of interest bound in from the National Maritime Museum. Newsclipping formerly mounted on the front wrapper; now loose with some residue remaining and showing through the verso. Minor dust-dulling and edgewear to the wrappers. Remains well-preserved overall, internally clean and strong. Item #473003
Physical description; 1 preliminary leaf, 257 numbered leaves, printed on rectos only ; 30 cm. Notes; Stanley Algar was a Merchant Navy captain and prisoner of war during the Second World War. This unpublished memoir is based on wartime diaries which he hid from German guards while interned. His son, Philip Algar, later published two books drawing on these materials.
