Observations on popular antiquities ...
1810, First Edition. London : Vernor, Hood and Sharpe. Good copy in contemporary half calf over dark teal marbled boards, now somewhat scuffed and with a mild warp to the top front margin as from storage. Corners rubbed, with minor wear to the panel edges. Spine gilt-tooled, mounted with a black leather label, slightly rubbed overall; endbands and joints more heavily worn, the latter with minor tears. Library label mounted to front pastedown. Text block remains tight, with some leaves slightly abraded at the fore-edge; p. 393 has a marginal lengthwise tear with minor loss, and text unaffected. Preliminary and final leaves lightly foxed, with the interior showing only the sparse, faint offsetting and foxing of age. A well-preserved example overall. Item #467697
