1844, First Edition. London : John Weale. Good copies. Vols. 1-3 in contemporary plain boards, backed in cloth with paper labels; vol. 4 more finely bound in quarter leather over marbled boards, with gilt-blocked leather label. Boards show minor scuffs and dust-dulling; edges considerably worn. Vol. 4 shows some leather loss to both top fore-corners and, internally, scattered foxing; lacks volume title page, as bound. Vol. 2 front hinge broken and crudely repaired with modern tape. All volumes otherwise strong internally; foxing limited to preliminary and final leaves. The copious colour plates remain vivid (most with tissue-guards); folded matter crisp. A well-preserved set overall. Item #464243
