1891, First Edition. Edinburgh : printed by Colston & Co. ; sold by R. Cameron. Poor but strong copy in quarter brown leather over olive cloth boards. Spine cover lacking at both ends, with binding internally very secure. Gilt-blocked armourial motif to front board, with gilt-blocked title to spine (now partly lacking). Covers somewhat worn at the corners and joints. Text block remains tight, showing only isolated, scattered foxing. Some newspaper clippings mounted to front free endpaper, with a contemporary reader inscription (1892) to the half-title. Frontispiece retains its tissue guard.
