1899, First Edition. Paris : Henri Charles-Lavauzelle, éditeur militaire. Good copies only, all finely bound in red cloth boards, backed with gilt-blocked red leather; titles gilt-blocked to spine. Boards somewhat dust-dulled, with variable spotted damp-staining; volume 2 particularly affected. Board edges worn, with some corner loss on volumes 2 and 4. Spines rubbed on raised bands and joints. Internally much better-preserved overall: text blocks remain tight; edges, preliminary leaves, and final leaves lightly foxed. Scattered foxing throughout volume 2. Folding matter all present and well-preserved throughout, if somewhat more foxed than the text. A strong and internally well-preserved set overall.
