1825, Second Edition. Edinburgh : R. Purdie. Both poor copies in contemporary half calf over blue cloth boards. Volume 2 lacking spine, with both boards detached (though present). Volume 1 spine heavily rubbed, with minor tears at the head and lacking labels; front board particularly damp-stained. Both volumes' covers are dust-dulled, with extremities rubbed and surface loss to the leather. Internally much better: tight text blocks, showing only the faint foxing and offsetting typical of age. Endpapers and text edges marbled. Contemporary (1833) inscription to volume 1 title page. Remains a very serviceable set overall. Item #458665
