1853, First Edition. London : Novello. Good copy in decoratively blind-tooled red cloth boards with gilt titles to spine (now somewhat sun-faded and rubbed at the ends). Originally issued disbound, but this volume sewn together and then subsequently disbound again, with leaves scuffed along the spine edges. Front free endpaper torn out, leaving scuff to pastedown. Preliminary leaves -- contents and frontispiece -- foxed, with the remainder of the plates generally clean with minor dust-dulling or isolated foxing to the margins only. Some plates missing their tissue guards (but all facing blank pages). An internally well-preserved volume of plates overall. Item #455755
