1880, First Edition. Paisley, Renfrewshire : A. Gardner. Good copy only in the original miniature leather-backed gilt-metal plates with a latch over the fore-edge and mounted stiff-card gilt-blocked titles. Spine gilt-blocked, with a vertical split from the head to the midpoint, near the front joint, making the front hinge tender. Stiff-cards somewhat scuffed and dust-dulled. Text remains bright, with all signatures holding (some only by sewing). Some birth and death dates recorded by previous owner in main body, with copious death dates recorded in rear memorandum section (1930-1990). Flyleaf inscription dated 1883. A fragile but complete artifact with compelling provenance. Item #455607
