The box is in fair, slightly dust-dulled and edge-rubbed condition, with one side panel loose from the bottom and pivoting on the back. Of the volumes, exposed spines are sun- and dust-toned, with slight dust-dulling only to the rest of the covers. Text blocks tight and clean overall, with some edges slightly foxed. A well-preserved and unique set of children's books. Item #455432

Physical description; complete in 12 volumes : colour illustrations ; 14 cm. Notes; Catalogued by the Bodleian Library, Oxford, under the collective title of Stories for Children. The English catalogue of books (p. 208) gives the title as "Box of Books", although this may be a simple description rather than a title as the 12 volumes were issued in a decorated paper bookbox as a set for 3s, 6d.
