Covers show the expected wear of age, with the spine heavily worn and showing evidence of a burn at the rear joint and panel. The first and last leaves are loose, and there is a crosswise tear to page 386 (with no loss). The core text remains notably tight and clean. Provenance: features the bookplate of John T. Stanley of Alderley, with his handwritten notes on the preliminary blanks. Item #453846
