1874, First Edition. Paris : Imprimerie nationale. Good copies both but separately bound. Volume 1 is in its original full leather with raised bands, gilt-tooling etc. and an armorial motif to both panels. Inner gilt dentelles with all edges-gilt. Spine bands worn with the front hinge detached. Text block is clean and generally tight, with only the plate facing p.222 loose. Volume 2 is a contemporary although more utilitarian qtr leather over marble boards, with raised bands and gilt blocked titles. Front hinge starting and prelims lightly foxed, but otherwise internally tight and clean. Internally, both copies remarkably well-preserved. Item #450632
